In 2015, THC partnered with National Housing Trust in a joint effort to revitalize, a 250-unit, scattered site, 100% federally assisted project located in the historic Vistula neighborhood of Toledo.
The project, known as New Heritage Village, was substantially rehabbed, and financed with 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits as well as Federal and State Historic Credits. Because of THC’s commitment, 48 buildings in Toledo’s North End have been restored. Not only was dignity returned to the buildings, but it was also returned to the people who live and work in them as well.
As a follow up to this transaction, THC is pursuing a similar transaction involving 191-units, 36 scattered site projects in and around Toledo’s downtown. The proposed transaction involves the substantial rehabilitation of three existing, federally assisted projects; Vistula Heritage Village II (165 units); South Toledo Homes (18 units); and Turner Properties (8 units).
By partnering with other like-minded community organizations THC hopes to continue to grow Affordable Housing, under committed local control in and around the Toledo area.
Vistula Heritage Village II
Nestled within the Vistula Historic District, Vistula Heritage Village offers 165 affordable apartment homes across 31 unique buildings. With unit sizes ranging from efficiencies to four-bedroom apartments, this fully subsidized Section 8 community provides quality housing for individuals and families alike. Rich in history and character, many of the century-old buildings showcase distinctive architectural features that reflect the neighborhood’s heritage and charm.
South Toledo Homes
South Toledo Homes is an affordable housing community offering 18 Section 8 apartment homes throughout Toledo’s historic South End neighborhood. Featuring two-, three-, and four-bedroom units, the community provides housing options to meet the needs of families of various sizes. Homes are conveniently located on Eastern Avenue, Western Avenue, Segur Avenue, and Erie Street, allowing residents to enjoy the character of an established neighborhood while remaining close to local amenities and services.
Turner Properties
Turner Properties is an affordable housing community featuring eight one-bedroom apartment homes in a single historic building dating back to 1890. Residents enjoy the character and charm of a well-preserved property that reflects the area’s architectural heritage while providing comfortable, quality housing in a unique setting.
